I distinctly remember that my edition of Encarta (they released a new one every year for a while) would play a recording of Martin Luther King Jr saying “I have a dream” at bootup. Today I am thinking about how I beat my brain into submission by learning #programming through reading Zaks' #6502 book. Chatted with my youngest, who's currently botherding #investment #AI #agents for a living, and he just laughed at how he used to do programming "raw, like with his brain".

I know this is very bad and scary when others do it, but I sometimes think that people convicted of violent crimes in #Sweden, who flee the country, should live in constant fear of the #vikings with horned helmets and iron hatchets we as a nation would send out as bounty hunters after them.
The viking should get a bounty corresponding to the #weregild the criminal owed, and be allowed to share it with the victims, or not.
I do love #cooking, but when I cook for a larger number of family and loved ones, and really want to consider all and every one of their preferences, allergies, religious limitations and neurodivergencies, the Venn diagram leaves a common overlap of ingredients about as large as a pinprick...
Off the top of my head I can serve hot, or cold, water.

Three ways to detect an AI-generated image. Understanding all three is the point.
Method 1: ML classification. Train on a dataset. Run inference. Fails on unseen generators and lightly post-processed outputs. This is what most "AI detector" tools do.
Method 2: Explicit declaration. Three forms in practice:
- Platform labels (LinkedIn Content Credentials badge, Meta AI label, YouTube disclosures)
- C2PA digitalSourceType: trainedAlgorithmicMedia in a COSE-signed manifest
- Invisible watermarks at generation time (Google SynthID, Midjourney, Firefly, Meta)
Reliable when present. Hard limit: requires the creator to declare it. Most AI images in circulation have no Method 2 signal.
Method 3: Forensic analysis. Signals in the file's physical structure — nothing to do with visual appearance, everything to do with how the file was made.
- High-pass filter residual: camera sensor noise is quantum physics;
diffusion model upsampling artefacts are structured and periodic
- Wavelet HF/LL energy ratio: AI images are characteristically smooth
in high-frequency sub-bands
- NSS Benford analysis: DCT coefficient leading digits deviate from
Benford's Law
- ELA: compression history differs from camera captures
- Metadata absence: no MakerNote, no lens serial, no device calibration fields
No retraining needed for new generators. No reliance on creator honesty.

Perhaps the responsible thing to do is to destroy any network where #chatcontrol or #OnlineSafetyAct is active. To keep the less aware, less knowing, and less caring from hurting themselves. Perhaps those [of us] with knowledge have a duty to burn it down, before it becomes a tool of [further] oppression.
I really really miss the 90:s Internet, and some days it hurts badly. We really allowed a good thing to go to $#!7, perhaps we need to start over.
I suppose one positive thing about #management talking to #AI instead of me as #CISO about how they should develop #cybersecurity, is how the LLMs are trained on the consensus of available #security research and lore online.
If we really committed to AI-recommended bog-standard middle-of-the-road average #infosec work, and *lots of it*, that wouldn't be too bad, tbh.

So, what's our collective #infosec take on how well #AI is working in #IR / #incidentresponse ?
On one hand, storytelling and contextualizing, acting decisively on poor data, and changing direction radically if someone has a good data point, is core to response management.
OTOH, I can think of no worse situation to lean on a word salad generator tuned to what has been popular buzzwords in the security media glossies the last decade(s).

Now and then I talk to people in a position to recruit a #CISO, in more social off-work settings.
If the topic of #infosec comes up, and it does a lot more nowadays, not too seldom these execs complain "When we post the job, we get 100 younglings applying, but no masters - why is that? Are you CISO people just fat cats never moving around?"
I can't really tell them the truth. #Sweden is not that big, and we elders talk. We know for a fact your org wants a Swiss Army Knife Sacrificial Goat, because that's what the last 2-3 CISOs in the role at your place experienced, and shared.
Be nice to your #security people, or it will degrade in more than one way.
Just had a #Duhpiphany, something completely obvious once realised: #BrandolinisLaw applies in full when substituting in secure/refute, and insecure #AI/bullshit.
The #infosec debt we're running up right now is a bit worrying.

Yeah, no.
Glad I lived in Manhattan, Cambridge and the Midwest for some years, and did a lot of road trips (including a coast-to-coast on a Harley), but I don’t think I’m ever going back.
Given these rules, seems that was what was intended.
