So let me tell you about “Baby Sharking”. In #NYC, it is considered stunningly rude to play sound on your phone while you’re on a bus or subway. But sadly a few people do it anyway, and it’s also considered rude to confront them. So I have found a solution.
When someone is making phone noise (almost always scrolling TikTok) on the bus or subway, I stand next to them and blast “Baby Shark” on my phone. They can’t say anything, because they can’t very well say that I’m being any ruder than they are being. So 90% of the time they turn off the TikTok, put on headphones or leave. And then I immediately stop of course.
I encourage other New Yorkers to do this.
Alternatively, one might take an "originalist" approach to the holiday and focus on the birth of American independence. But then you risk engaging with uncomfortable ideas like separation of powers, checks and balances, the rule of law, accountability of leaders, and other such woke distractions.

1. Trump's most popular policy among his supporters *by far* are his "immigration policies"
2. His immigration policies are by definition, ethnic cleansing policies. They were devised by white nationalists who self-described their sole purpose as "turning the USA into a white ethnostate."
3. White American voters are the only group of US voters that support these ethnic cleansing policies at more than 50%. Black, Asian, non-white Hispanic, and Indigenous people all reject these ethnic cleansing policies.
4. Trump supporters are willing to give up every other policy to make sure that this one happens, as they view it as existential. They are willing to pay to do this.
On the nation’s 250th birthday the President of the United States gave a speech that was delayed by global warming he ignores in a capital that was crawling with white nationalists he encourages where he called to make it harder for married women to vote.

I now travel with a portable CO2 monitor. Outdoors it reads around 400 parts per million. In a closed meeting room with a handful of people in it, I have watched it climb past 2,000. The photo here is a real reading: 2,143.
That number matters more than it looks. Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory put people in a chamber and varied only the CO2. At 1,000 ppm, performance dropped significantly on six of nine decision-making measures compared with a clean-air baseline of 600. At 2,500 ppm, seven of the nine fell substantially, some into a range they called dysfunctional. A separate study out of Harvard found cognitive scores declining as CO2 rose, with the steepest losses in exactly the domains you called the meeting for: strategy, planning, and using information under pressure.
