In the city for two days because it's my annual Run All The Tests endocrinology appointment. My husband asked me to go swing by his pulmonologist to get his health card scanned in so he could order a refill for his meds this quarter.
I said sure!
Went to the address I was given... They've moved. Annoying but okay. They're open this afternoon so I'll go after I've rested a bit. Go to the new address, much further away. There's a sign up: hey, due to a personal emergency no walk ins today. Patients will be seen by the practice across the street.
Me: well, I'm not a walk in but it's also not his doctor. They are, however, taking his doctor's patients so there has to be some mechanism at work that might make this possible. If you don't ask, you never know!
(Also, at this point someone was going to be scanning his health card whether they could help or not.)
The receptionist was wonderful. I explained the situation asked if it was possible, she said yes, got the card scanned and ordered the refill.
