Wew just finished a 10K with a time I'm very proud of, went in shooting for 10 mins/mi and finished with 9:25 mins/mi.

My pace and heart rate pretty much tell me I can't do any better as well, even effort throughout except for handling a few elevation changes and I really did not have much gas in the tank at the end, which is reflected by the steadily increasing heart rate.

It is legitimately very funny when I'm chatting with the people that make one of the DDA forks and somebody shows up like, "got tired of those idiots that make DDA and decided to give your forks a try" and I'm like "hiiiiii ilu too <3".

Just noticed it progressed a bit. I was really lucky, I had a firm grip on the handles, was lowering the stack slowly, and was able to pull it back up as soon as I realized it had hit my toes. Lift safe! Down with socks!

I just oh so delicately tippy tapped my toes with a 57lb stack of plates.

Remember, a suspended stack of weights can easily drag something much heavier across the floor, especially if that something forgot to take its socks off, and lifting plates are always thirsty for your blood.

I picked up a cute lil ESP32 board to run a fishtank thing on it, but the serial port isn't enumerating on my Ubuntu system and I've hit roadblocks with every avenue I've checked, including trying to build the driver, but it won't build against my kernel headers.

that fucking post got boosted onto my feed *again* and I guess this time all I want to say is that any asshole can claim to be anti-LLM while shouting down and tone policing legitimate critiques of LLMs. that is in fact a common sales tactic used by boosters: Simon Willison has declared himself an AI critic, but in every way that matters he defends the technology and boosts critihype.

it sucks but sometimes even marginalized people get taken in by a harmful power structure and end up saying and doing terrible things to defend their position in that power structure.

I’ve watched far too many of my personal heroes fall prey to cognitive surrender to be shocked anymore when it happens, but I understand the urge to side with someone you used to look to as a positive example. please do what you can to prevent yourself from being used as part of a harmful power structure, even if someone from your same lot in life tells you that this time the power structure is ok.
