Smiley was one of a couple of prominent women at Colombia Princeton. She's one of the earliest digital composers.

Radigue did amazing drone music on the ARP and sadly did not get recognition until very late in life.

Oliveros was one of the founders of the San Francisco Tape Music Centre. She was at the forefront of music technology for decades, while also doing meditational music on the accordion. She was one of the first boomer composers to be out as a lesbian. Her best known work is called 'Bye Bye Butterfly', which is a specifically feminist remix of an opera record with scavenged analogue surplus devices. (Some of the feminist terminology she used when writing about the work is now dated.)
I met her a few times. She was an inspirational figure. Just amazing. Everyone should know about her.
In 2016, just after Brexit passed, she cane to London and lead a Deep Listening meditation. Everyone in the room was slightly hysterical at the start. Afterwards, it felt like this incredible tension had lifted. The moderator had the mic and said, "I feel kind of high, actually." We all did. She said, "listening is how you dense danger. We are in dangerous times." She was on it, as always. She was right.
She died before the US election.

I've been taking my time with it and I've actually been watching over the last couple months. I'm partway through season 4. It's very frustrating, but mostly from a "yeah this is just like real life, how does anyone miss what this show is trying to say?" perspective

so I've been watching The Boys, finally, and aside from the superhero stuff it doesn't seem much like fiction to me?

also reading some of the fan reactions to the later seasons is *wild*, like they miss Homelander before he went fascist? even though he was very clearly fascist from day 1? like it was obvious to me and I knew nothing about The Boys aside from "if you liked Invincible you'll probably like The Boys"

Discord really needs a privacy setting where people can only send you a friend request if they’ve interacted with you on a server first (e.g. publicly sent you an @mention or replied to you or something)
