It’s just wild to me how quickly and completely we’ve gone from “everything in the future will be blockchain” to blockchain being •completely• absent from the public eye except as (1) a Trump grift and (2) money launderers buying politicians.

Look, let's start at the very beginning: Yes, I 100% understand that what's currently happening with Bandcamp is absolutely shit. We're talking about a platform that, for years, was the last remaining safe haven for independent music – and now it's being swallowed up piece by piece by a corporation that couldn't give less of a fuck about our art. The frustration isn't just justified, it's necessary. And I'm totally on your side with that, really.
But. (there is alway a but...)
Yes, we had the occasional day over 90°F/32°C when I was a kid. The difference is we didn't have whole weeks straight of them, and we almost never had days over 100°F/38°C.

I didn't pick up Latin in any class, but by being a youngster in the Catholic Church when only Latin was used for services and Missals had handy dandy side-by-side English and Latin paragraphs on each page. Latin sure came in handy when dealing with European Romance languages but I ran into a snag when, in my head, Spanish and Portuguese cross-pollinated, and I have the same problem with Canadian and Parisian French. Ma foi.

Romanian is one of the Romance languages i haven’t studied that have always been difficult to decipher due to its Cyrillic-esque orthography.
am learning to read it with #Mastodon’s translation feature.
