Just to give an idea how LLM nonsense is affecting #Wikipedia, perhaps a quarter of threads on ANI, the Administrators' Noticeboard for Incidents, involve LLM use—either crap articles generated by LLMs, or people using LLMs to write extremely wordy, unhelpful replies to concerns about their behaviour.

That's a huge externality right there - whatever uses AI tech has, it has enabled a DDoS attack on the hardworking volunteers trying to maintain the commons-based project the damn LLMs trained on.

When programming in C, avoid overflowing the stack.

If you don't already know what "threw my back out" means, it sounds like a violent and counterproductive thing to do.

An old article, but I had it bookmarked, and was interested to re-read it in light of the recent discussion about NESO paying-or-not-paying a solar farm (not in Scotland) to shutdown.

Incidentally, the article says "Despite Scotland’s booming wind sector, turbines are still routinely paid not to spin". The 'not to spin' part may be rhetorical, and is not referred to again; but I had the impression that it wasn't possible/safe to prevent turbines from spinning in heavy winds, and that they do something else instead to stop generation.
