Does anyone have any idea of old publications (ideally ones on the internet archive), modern online communities that discuss media, or any other sources amongst the deaf community where I might find some discussion or writing or anything about how deaf folks felt about Tony, the deaf teen on season 9 of Dallas? Getting a recurring deaf character at all NOW is still rare, much less in the 80s, so I'd really like to know if there's any reactions preserved from that time or if there's any posts about it now from folks remembering it then. I'm about to scour places like reddit but it's like...I know where to go to find Dallas discussions I can search for discussion about deaf representation, I don't know where I might find general deaf community discussions new or old i could search for Dallas discussion.

My single user self hosted server doesn't have a ton of reach so boosts appreciated! I'm adding a few hashtags I found with some use too.

Still trying to work out a new angle for them this year.

I definitely have to watch this movie one or two times more to catch everything. It had nuances and jokes I know I didn't catch this first time through, being as distracted as I was with the storm.

I really liked it, though.

Dawn and I are watching our first #cdrama called Meet Yourself. Chosen by me on the basis of the thumbnail (shown). It's the familiar story of a big city woman who visits a tight knit village in the country, changing the course of her life. Set in Yunnan province, which is breathtakingly beautiful.

This drama is mostly very soothing - and I told my wife it's sort of like Winnie the Pooh in 100 Acre Wood. The characters spend a lot of time eating, drinking tea and philosophizing.

I think my favorite part of the #cdrama #MeetYourself (on ep 12/40) is how they treat the grandmother character. She is capable, active, mentally participating in everything, not babied, a well-rounded character.

So often in dramas, grandmas are just there to pity, care about and die.

This lady is funny, flawed, an active participant in shenanigans... I love her.

#cDrama Meet Yourself (2023). Slow paced charming slice of life, from Yunnan village scenes to background songs that drive the story forward. Daily life, challenges in life, within families, among friends, village ties, rural hometown vs big city-life opportunities are integral. Romance, if it develops fully, is definitely slow-burn.

Watching the 2008 #kdrama movie #AntiqueBakery "Antique" starring very young Kim Jae Wook, Ju Ji Hoon, and Yoo Ah In.

Kim Jae Wook is a gay patissier, French trained, and Ju Ji Hoon is the high school crush who turned him down and opens a bakery to pick up chicks.

"The Gay of Demonic Charm" is Jae Wook's nick name in this.

I’ve been making bedside water bottles for years but I don’t make them very often. They’re inspired by Mexican botellones—small clay water jugs with an accompanying cup which serves as a cover. Sometimes the cup has a handle. I’ve also discovered a Congolese version of the botellón. One handed keyboard to help give my hands a break while I wait for the hand surgeon to decide I am a priority.

3d printed case from design I found online, Partner tweaked it for sturdiness since I work in a rough environment. He then soldered in the key switches and wiring, and programmed the keys in Python. Keycaps are spares I have thanks to a mechanical keyboard obsession.

There's 3 layers total (the 1 and 2 on the far left control the extra layers), and I am tweaking it for ease of my personal work.

It's actually not a bad keyboard layout. I will alternate this and my 96% layout for diversity of hand use and rest.

It's really a B+/A- because it is very fun, especially in the first half/two-thirds, but it falters slightly and I can't forgive ML's terrible haircut. Funnily enough, he had the *best* haircut it the last one, Fight For My Way.

She agrees to meet her first love again, but she has fallen in the world and he has risen. So she grabs her best friend (really great relationship!) to meet him for her. Then he winds up her boss at a magazine. Hijinks ensue.

I'm still working on the custom eyeglass project, and I just hit a new milestone: 3D printed frames, with prescription lenses I edged (cut down and shaped to fit the frames) myself on the belt sander from 60 mm blanks.

These are the "Hitomi" frames I found in a recent video ( https://youtu.be/CFFWaF4P7os ), and they're the best printable design I've found yet. They print flat, so all the sides are presentable without post-processing or needing to outsource to SLS printing. And he included the lens templates with the design, which makes fitting real lenses to them quite easy. I don't have the screws/inserts/pins needed to properly assemble them, so they fall apart of I move my head too quickly, but otherwise they're very wearable.

Now that I have the full workflow down, it's time to get properly silly about this and make the adjustable glasses idea that got me exploring this in the first place.
