@vicgrinberg That's such a good point. We also know the famous saying "Trust is a fragile thing - hard to earn, easy to lose." Given trust is clearly such a valuable currency in all professional fields and our personal lives, it's so strange to see so many people gamble with it.

The results of the official student evaluation for my 'Introduction to Data Analysis in R for Linguistics and Language Education' course are in and they are really lovely. My favourite comment has to be: "Atmosphere in class is top notch". I agree, it's top notch and great fun to teach this group! Also lots of positive feedback about my textbook, which is really nice. 😊

On the plus side, I did not manage to find the time or energy to reformat my CV nicely in time for yesterday's grant application. My collaborators have *much* prettier CVs, whereas mine is as basic as the packaging of the products you find on the bottom shelves of discount supermarkets. But now I'm wondering: Could this actually play in favour?!?

5. Make myself a cup of tea
6. Get on with some real work.

In der Datenschutzerklärung: genaue Standortdaten auch für ortsbezogene Werbung, auch durch Dritte. Nach WetterOnline und Databroker-Files sollte eigentlich klar sein, wohin so etwas führen kann.

Went to the wonderful (and air-conditioned!) Arp museum today and learnt a few things:

Das ist mir bisher entgangen: Die Ethikkommission der TU Dresden lehnt eine Forschungsarbeit für Elbit Systems ab, eben jene israelische Firma, die Drohnen herstellt, welche in Gaza, im Libanon und im Iran gezielt gegen Zivilisten eingesetzt werden, gegen die die Ulm 5 demonstrierten und die überall neue Standorte in Deutschland aufbauen will.
Das Rektorat setzt sich über die Entscheidung der Kommission hinweg und entscheidet sich für den Auftrag über 30.000 Euro, wohl auch weil man künftig stärker im Rüstungsgeschäft vertreten sein möchte. Jemand leakt diesen Eklat, woraufhin das Rektorat die Ethikkommission auflöst und Strafanzeige stellt.
Der Umgang mit Genozid, Kriegsverbrechen und ethischen Grundsätzen sind dabei ein Sinnbild für Deutschland, erst recht wenn man bedenkt, dass eine christliche Studierendenvereinigung diese Entscheidung noch feiert.
