I’ve had a huge health setback following my move.

My level of function is half what it was before.

The hospital said they would connect me with “resources” to assist with activities of daily living.

There’s a 1.5 year wait list.

MAiD was offered in under a month.

I don’t want to die.

I don’t want to allow the government to euthanize me.

But this is eugenics I’m always talking about.

I need assistance to survive. Help with cooking & cleaning.

The supports don’t exist unless you have a ton of money.

When you try and push your body to do it yourself, you get worse.

If you end up in hospital, they suggest assisted dying.

Am I “free” to say no? Of course.

Does it feel that way when nothing else is being offered?

Not at all.

I’m being denied the support to live while “offered” death.

That’s coercion.

It’s eugenics.

The system has decided I’m not worth saving.

I’m not alone in this.

Disabled people urgently need allies and support in this fight.

And I need some home care.

I don't know when it's expected to start being enforced, but I assume that, at least at first, it will only apply to new builds (maybe it already does?).

Under the by-law, most commercial, community, and health care facilities must provide at least 2 bike parking spots, with the amount scaling up with facility size. However, they can ask permission to count city-maintained bike parking, if it's close enough. (And businesses can already ask the city to provide sidewalk bike racks, so I assume that will be the default way to meet the requirements on commercial streets with no parking lots per business.)

Apartment buildings with more than 9 units will also be required to provide at least 1 bike parking spot per unit, most of which must be long-term secure parking.

There are also minimum requirements for bike rack size & structure.

People in Europe, please don't let your politicians gaslight you like American politicians do to them.

After every school shooting is never the time to talk about gun control. Making it political is somehow "disrespectful" to the innocent children shot by mad men who got easy access to deadly weapons.

Now is the time to make every heat death political. Make every death count. Scream to the rafters. Hold public funerals for victims of heat deaths. Name the perpetrators. Don't let their deaths become meaningless.

Tell their stories. Use the opportunity to tell children about the lies of fossil fuels. Build monuments. Hold vigils. Sue fossil fuel companies for wrongful death.

Whatever tools you have, use them loudly and proudly. Don't let this slide.

Gov. Gregg Abbot of Texas has used his influence to halt social events in Texas for non white nationalist groups.

First, a Drag show in Arlington last month lost their venue when someone heard about it and called Abbot. Suddenly their venue was double booked though they had scheduled months in advance.

Also an Eid event at a Waterpark in Grand Prairie was canceled when Abbot threatened to pull state money if they held it.

I don’t know who needs to see this, but if you work in #tech and thus have eight million branded backpacks, fleeces, vests etc for a company you don’t work for / feel like being a free billboard for, thirty minutes with a needle and thimble and a cute patch from an artisan will result in a backpack you actually want to take places. Ten minutes with a seam ripper will do the same thing, but will leave a shadow where the embroidery was.

We went for a 15-min walk after the Canada game. I wore jeans AND gave myself a quick spritz of Deep Woods Off.

I STILL got a mosquito bite *through my jeans*. These things are absolutely VICIOUS after all that rain.

I am unsure how I'll make it through the next few weeks with those stupid bites swelling up to tennis ball sized welts.... Have we investigated "dragonflies and bats as pets" yet??
