Normalize patenting the Torment Nexus, not making it, and suing anyone who tries.

Anyone remember WEP, the original encryption scheme for WiFi?

"W" did not stand for "WiFi" or "Wireless".
"E" did not stand for "Encryption".
"P" did not stand for "Protocol".

The acronym was actually "Wired Equivalent Privacy", which, given how badly broken it was, is hilarious.

I tried to fascinate my partner with a piece of cheese. It did not work. I WAS MISLED!

Is there a futures market for RAM?

We interrupt your regularly scheduled tooting to bring you a message related to my employer, which I am not speaking on behalf of:

My team is hiring a security engineer in London. It is in person. Please DM if you'd like to talk about the role and perhaps be referred.

(please look me up on LinkedIn if you want to know where I work, but it's a megacorp you're familiar with)

YEARS OF LINUX SYSADMINNING yet NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for going beyond CLOSING A FEW TABS

Wanted to avoid the OOM killer anyway for a laugh? We had a tool for that: It was called ZRAM

"Yes please give me a dedicated 64GB logical volume of SWAP. Please give me unresizable block devices trapped at the end of my disk." - STATEMENTS DREAMED UP BY THE UTTERLY DERANGED

LOOK at what Neckbeards have been demanding your Respect for all this time, with all the fdisk and GParted Live USBs we built for them. (This is REAL PARTITIONING, done by REAL LINUX USERS):

# echo /dev/nvme0n1p3 none swap sw 0 0 >> /etc/fstab
# swapon -a

Who is the joker who decided to return HTTP 418 (I'm a teapot) for attempts to buy tickets from Ryanair?

I have been threatening to implement this as a patch to dd for a while, but this is way better.

We've all been there. A late night, a tired brain, and a dd command with a typo in the output file. In the world of systems administration, a single character can be the difference between a successful backup and destroyed data.

But it doesn't have to be that way. Today, I am proud to introduce libclaymore. Simply install and configure it according to the README.md and never again scramble for backups (you have those, right?) after swapping if= and of=.

libclaymore works by introducing a cognitive speed bump. When armed, it prohibits the standard of=. Instead, you must use enemy= or target=, both of which are very different from if=.

For clarity, I redact the following in my posts by replacing it with plausible but fake information:

IP addresses
MAC addresses
Physical addresses
Serial numbers
Host names
Domain names
Personal names
Pet names
Genders
