I also got gifts from Wikimedia 😃. A pair of socks with Wikipedia jigsaw motifs. A deck of playing cards. This is not a usual one; the figures are historical card pictures and have references to their sources in Wikimedia Commons. I got a beautiful "Wikipedia 25" anniversary cup with a wooden lid and a picture of the universe. Notice the detail: in Germany, cups can have lids for the dust and to preserve the liquid temperature, especially for beer cups.
I also included in the picture the event badge and a custom pin with my Wikipedia username. If you visit one of the following events, you may try to find a stand where you can create your own pin.
Thanks to the organizers for this great event! The Stuttgart Wikipedia community was also super friendly. I fully recommend people living in Stuttgart to join them.
The Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart has a very special architecture. The building is like a cube with small rectangular windows. A glass ceiling on top allows natural light to enter—it is probably the floor of the upper levels of the library. Visiting the library is interesting by itself.
The first time I visited it after years of living in Stuttgart. @Ayenkantun and I plan to visit it with calm in another day.

The #WikipediaBus is touring Germany for the 25th anniversary of #Wikipedia! If you missed the Stuttgart stop, there are still several cities to go:
- May 9, Münster
- May 30, Hamburg
- June 6, Berlin (MV)
- June 20, Köln
- July 11, München
- September 18, Regensburg
Check https://wikipedia25.de for details. It's a great opportunity to learn about Wikipedia, Wikidata, and the Wikimedia community. I super recommend it!
Yesterday, I celebrated the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia with the Wikipedia Bus at the Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart. With the Cluster of Excellence SimTech of the University of Stuttgart (@Uni_Stuttgart), we prepared some activities to explain how knowledge is created, verified, and made accessible to everyone. In our interactive station we showed how #Wikidata (@wikidata) can be used to answer queries that are difficult for language models. I also described how my research projects at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence (@UniStuttgartAI) will contribute knowledge for everyone. We will provide a platform to integrate this research knowledge with the general knowledge stored in #Wikidata, the collaborative knowledge base by the Wikimedia Foundation (@wikimediafoundation).
In the pictures are some of the people who contribute to our station: Tabea Siegle, Patrick Barth, Denny Vrandečić (@vrandecic), Blazej Grabowski, and me.

It is a pity I am not in Chile to attend this talk. Not only because Ricardo's talks are always interesting, but because this is a question I have always wondered about and we have studied in our ICML 2025 paper:
Cosimo Gregucci, Bo Xiong, Daniel Hernández, Lorenzo Loconte, Pasquale Minervini, Steffen Staab, Antonio Vergari:
Is Complex Query Answering Really Complex?

This is great! I hope other universities in the world do the same! #Fediverse #Mastodon #Universities #Democracy #Education #Science
Our poster paper, "On the Meaning of the Web as an Object of Study" is now on @arxiv_cs and I will present it at #WebSci2026 in Braunschweig!
We argue that the Web has evolved from a focused research object into a universal digital environment, and its very success has fragmented its academic identity. We discuss the "academic tragedy of the commons," the disruptive force of AI, and what it means to study the Web in 2026.
Joint work with Claudio Gutierrez (professor at @dccuchile).
