Oops double catted.

Turns out there are no clouds
overhead, so I just put the seestar to work.

I was just early enough to catch Venus and a baby Moon (yes, there is a wee bit of thin cloud over in the west)

Also, it’s cold 🥶

The blue faced honey eaters have spotted the flowering bottlebrush and the cat under the flowering bottlebrush.

The pink and the red callistemons are going, the cream one lives in a shadier spot and barely even has flower buds yet.

I still lack a yellow one. #bloomscrolling

Nice. Someone had gotten themselves access to the rubbish spreadsheet I use to loosely track how the AI scraper DDoS changes from month to month and has decided to use it to write an official report on how we deal with AI traffic without talking to me.

Busy in Melbs? The planes are already doing delay loops out here.

Apropos of nothing, YandexBot traffic is indeed down to about 10% of its usual amount.

My lemon curd is *also* excellent on a toasted crumpet.

Just wandered into the back yard, pulled
some leaves off the assorted self-seeded lettuces, and there we go. No supermarket cellophane packet needed.

200 OK
X-Chores: done
X-Pants: off

Busy on my walk by the river this morning. Didn’t see any snakes, but given kooka is there for breakfast they must be about.

I should probably get my shit together for next year, given two people asked me if I’d entered my photos.

Not sure if it’s better to try for a blue ribbon in preserves or just eat all my lemon curd and sweet mustard pickle.

And whilst the seestars were spotting nebulae, the RedCat was staring at galaxies for a few hours.

This is a part of the Fornax cluster. Its most famous member is the barred spiral of NGC1365, just left of center.

Not too far away in the sky, but all the way over at bottom right here, sits Fornax A, a giant elliptical galaxy with visible shells of stars around it. The shells of stars mean that it has interacted with and probably eaten other galaxies.

The name means it is the most radio-bright thing in Fornax, so it probably has a supermassive black hole at its center that is actively munching things.

Also note the little galaxy at middle right, that looks like it has a ring around it. That is generally a sign of a direct hit by another galaxy.

The densest part of the cluster sits towards the top left. There is much more to it, but my camera sensor is too small to catch it all at this focal length :-)

120 x 60 seconds with a RedCat 61, UV/IR cut filter and ASI294MC Pro camera on an AM5. Stacked and processed in siril, with rc-astro tools.

As for that swirl in Apus, HMSTG 314-23, I now have about 8 hours of data on that and when combined in @Siril_Official it ends up looking like this.

I think I stuffed up the star processing, so this could look a bit better. If I manage some more data next week, I’ll have another go.

The Pro one was working hard getting me more data on the swirl in Apus, but before and after that did some targets of opportunity.

One very low in the north, and one mosaic low in the east, before sunrise.

I wheeled out the full observatory the other day, which means I also got some data using the non-Pro seestar. I guess that’s the S30 Amateur now? Maybe I should rename it.

As yet I don’t have two wedges, so this one was snapping 30 second subs in AltAz mode. Still nice!

Kepler was quite sure it was #caturday yesterday evening. And something something I am very cute, so treats please.
