I was 7 in 2000, and even I remember printing mapquest directions. Some mandela effect shit...

academic HCI really b like:

Annotation as Agency: Hybridizing Spatial/Geo Computing through End-User Programmable Paper Tooling

or...

Back In My Day: Why Everyone Remembers Printing Mapquest Directions

today's ephemeral computing research has led me to DARPA's VAPR project which makes a whole bunch of really expensive-to-develop-and-deploy technologies self-destructible and... edible!

Tired of that silly obsolete phone you just paid off? Eat it!

two political terms I came into contact with today that make me feel emotionally confused in complicated ways:

9haram
left/acc

I think the through line here is like generic conciliatory agreement in position but mechanized using like the worst imaginable ideological vehicles.

is there an account of software that is like:

here is character i/o
here is a buffer
here is an editor
here is a filesystem
here is a framebuffer
here are graphics routines
here is a mouse
here are icon representations
here are windowing systems
here are visual metaphors
etc.
etc.

but like... in a way that isn't so OS-dev coded (which is great too), but deals more with the behaviors and semantics of user interaction - *specifically* - in an incremental fashion?

damn, economics really do just b like...

"just don't be oppressed"

tcl 9.1 got screen reader support and bidi text

now that's what I call music

many of my thought experiments - in the most abstract sense possible - are variations on the following theme|pattern:

a puzzle:

find a way to use a non-rigid surface as a spatial guide for unattached/free-floating pieces (think a flexible game mat and player miniatures, etc.) under the condition that - when mobile - you have to be able to use the surface as a container for the pieces without disturbing their position when the surface is laid flat and back in it's original position.

hypnospace outlaw except it's just plan9 and a bunch of really cryptic messages from previous owner

latest news in the gear fetish communities:

you can now look at a picture of a quarter-century-old swedish synthesizer while a simulation of it slowly crashes your computer

also, text extraction and text processing is fucking fascinating. who knew?

more problem domains need a nine author paper promoting a black box whose role is ENRICH

like what - who is your audience here

why do poorly-rendered/designed white paper block diagrams go so hard

what is that demon? two superimposed emoji?

just spent a week in NYC.

last month a week in SF.

maybe the billboards are right. maybe humans are spoiled brats.

maybe it will all be worth it if like 5 dudes in sports cars meet god.

just bummed i spent so much time dreaming of a future, fell in love, started a life.

woops, my bad.

i swear i wont drink anymore water if it helps the guy who got rich selling missiles build *checks notes*... an N64?

i dont intend to combine them into a single overarching model. instead i will make sure they can kiss

on a persistent homology kick atm

I’m unsure how literal the topologists are being when they say “barcodes”.
