https://blog.character.ai/an-update-on-character-ai/ Oh hey, that AI company that preys on kids that is currentky being sued into oblivion has filed for bankruptcy... No, not Open AI, yet, but it's a start.

Argh, the last podcast on my Monday playlist has had a glitch in the AutoAds so I'm getting clumps of five to seven auto ads for Shopify in a row... I'm in hell, but hoping the hosts are getting paid.

'I've just put it online and it's already sold out!' 'Oh my god!' *Shudder!*

Never forget that Christopher Columbus was considered a monster even back in his day and he didn't discover a thing, there were people already there. He would be a minor figure, another name in a long chain of colonisers if white people in post revolutionary America weren't so desperate to have a founding figure who wasn't well known so could be sculpted into the action hero explorer type that could help them justify their own native genocide to themselves, and wasn't just some minor British royal.

' You can't watch adult movies, you can't watch drag shows, you can't watch shows with non cis characters, but you can watch a livestream of a state sanctioned murder, which will be clipped and shared across social media until the end of time.'

Some days it's nice to just switch off for a few and spend a half hour or so strumming along to Rick Astley and singing in my flat, northern voice, not trying to do accents or anything beyond my vocal range and not caring what the world is up to.

Rick Astley living his best life over the past few decades and becoming a delightful elder statesman of 80s pop who is down for pretty much anything is heartwarming. His music was always great, now people appreciate it as more than just a meme.

I'm sure the non slop FOSS projects will get right on that.

Dennis Hastert is dead. I remember being horrified when I heard that during the Bush admin that a pedophile monster was third in line to being in control of a superpower... Good job America learned from that mistake, huh?

Rest in piss.

Effective Altruism would vanish overnight if the promise to spend money doing good was legally binding.

Sam Altman: “we believe that the world should accept some bad things happening for the benefits of this technology and people having the agency.”

Which people? Not the artists, writers, coders and musicians whose work was plundered, nor the people in poor communities who have data centers forced upon them by politicians who don't shave to deal with the noise, pollution and resource drain. Not the people whose retirement funds bought in to SpaceXAi by default so now have to pray the bubble doesn't burst too violently, nor the people faced with not getting to retire as AI is denying them medical care. Not the graduates being denied the first step on the ladder because employers hope AI will do all their jobs, nor the veteran employees who are pushed out for saying 'no it can't'. Not the civilians in Palestine, Iran and Lebanon getting bombed into oblivion because AI now gives them a new excuse for targeting civilians, nor the billions of people now being tracked for having the wrong political beliefs or skin colour. Not the people struggling to make ends meet as corporations use AI to fix prices of everything from food to housing, and the people whose existence is now threatened because AI companies are pouring money into the campaign's of absolute nightmare creatures in order to block anyone fixing the problems they create...

The only people he wants to have agency is people like him, his public statements and his personal life show he cares nothing about consent on any level, none of them do, and the benefits will always be coming ten years down the road, much like Trumpism and Brexit. This is a deeply selfish man representing an industry of nothing but pure, distilled greed, seeing people getting angrier and angrier at him, hoping that he can quell that anger long enough he can take over government policy on his field entirely, cash out, or both.

https://www.friendlyatheist.com/p/nearly-half-of-people-raised-mormon Turns out that you cannot, in fact, outbreed social progress and that bigotry, tithing and continual threats of being excommunicated if you don't embrace those things are not super popular with younger people.

Stop normalising Piers Morgan, he's not owning far right figures, he's platforming them for personal gain because he is still a goddamned ghoul. He is still the same self centered scumbag he's always been, the same man who was happy to profit from hacked phones and would skip back to Rupert Murdoch's loving arms if asked.

I kind of suspect exploitative Youtube gameshow 'philanthropist' Jimmy Donaldson only goes by the handle Mr. Beast because Willy Wanker couldn't be trademarked.

https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/09/openai-agent-didnt-accept-no-for-an-answer-in-australian-government-breach/ 'Nvidia are pleased to announce the purchase of Australia in a deal that has nothing to do with preventing OpenAI from having to face legal consequences.'

The WWE are not only integrated into the Trump regime, eager promoters of racist comics and serial scammers like the Paul brothers, they're now streaming content on Rumble to help normalise that and introduce a platform designed for, and by Nazis to their young audience.

If you like wrestling in any way, do not give them any money. Doesn't matter if they sign your favourite indie guy, you're funding a company that's pushing kids to the home of Candace Owens and Andrew Tate.

*Glances at KDE then resets the sign with a sigh.*

After Canada, the UK and now Germany, will people start accepting that neoliberal 'centrist' leaders are not going to save anyone from fascism? You're giving people a choice between someone who wants to make the world worse through austerity, attacks on the poor and privatisation and someone who wants to make the world worse through austerity, attacks on the poor and privatisation, but with fingers pointed at immigrants for all of it then acting shocked people you need to vote just don't.

We don't need any more 'leaders' who do little more than follow the sound of goose-stepping and burning migrant housing, saying they may have a point.

Don't be alarmed, folks: the least ethical company in the least ethical industry since the commercialisation of TetraEthyl Lead, the one using the cultist thing now has a biolab. I'm sure this will end fiiiiiiine.

What a shock.

'At Microsoft AI, we begin with a simple premise: people matter more than AI. Technology’s purpose is to advance human civilization and to accelerate human flourishing.'

Posted after how many rounds of mass layoffs directly tied to the spending on AI? I'm sure all the Devs at the studios bought by Xbox that were just fired because of unrealistic profit goals set by the people in charge at Microsoft to try and offset the AI money pit sure feel like AI is working to help them flourish.
