Hey, times is tough.
I run a bookstore.
If you've got kids in your life who are likely to have a sparse christmas, and who might be interested in (rather than disappointed by) books, shoot me a DM.

Our holiday budget is somewhat limited this year, but I've got a fair number of books set aside as gifts, and our customers usually donate some as well.
(This post is from last year, but we're doing this again this year. As with last year, I'm able to provide some books, and maybe some other children's stuff.
We can work on the details privately.)
I know of a soup kitchen / food pantry type place catering to homeless people that is always in need of books if you're interested.
@trabex We work with our local food pantry for that kind of work, and my resources are unfortunately somewhat limited.
My goal with this post in particular was to help a couple of kids who's holidays are likely to be unpleasant as a result of the worsening global financial situation.
That being said, if you'd like to make a post about the soup kitchen / food pantry and their book wants/needs, I can boost it and point some folks in that direction.
Hello, the place is called 1269 Cafe Ministries. It's a soup kitchen / food pantry / transitional housing / medical treatment type place. They're always in need of books because they always see new clients on a regular basis.
@ajroach42 Children who are disappointed by books as gifts should be left in the forests to be raised by the wolverines.
I may be biased.
@IanAMartin I'm not sure what to do with this one.
@ajroach42 do you happen to also have this post on bluesky?
@aimeecozza I do not, and am not interested in doing so.
@ajroach42 Would it be feasible to put a donation link on the store website, so out-of-towners could contribute to this effort?
@epicdemiologist maybe! But we haven't had much interest from families yet.
