    It's trifle Thursday! Today we are launching Vivaldi 8.3 on Desktop, iOS and Android, which brings:

    🛡️ Rebuilt ad and tracker blocker, with a new UI, new blocking levels and extensive backend refactoring
    🔗 Copy sanitized links to remove tracking parameters

    Desktop also gets two highly requested updates to vertical tabs:

    📊 Expand tab bar on hover
    📌 Pinned tabs in grid

    ...and there's much more in store, including a massive performance boost for our iOS version!

    @AndiFFM@mstdn.socialit is available as a command as “Copy Page Address without Parameters” (we should update this to match the name of the feature, I’ve already given internal feedback about this so it can be fixed). It is therefore accessible via Quick Commands, it can be added to any menu, assigned a shortcut, and everything else one can do with a command.

    @Vivaldi I haven't seen any tests of Vivaldi's ad blocker, but I'd like to see options like: off, medium (block intrusive ads but leave some so the site can make money), strong (block everything we can), and for the crazy ones (nothing will work)

    @Vivaldi It's important that the average user be able to choose to support websites without being bombarded with pop-ups and without ads interfering with their experience.

    I assume that the first “blocking level” is like that, but I would change the wording and the objectives if I were the one making the decision.

    This isn't criticism; it's just me speaking my mind

    @Vivaldi Please add an option for when copying text from webpages, to copy without formatting (html or otherwise). And since I always want to copy without formatting, please make it an option to have it as default copy.

    Since you bent over for Google and removed V2 addon support, disabling especially uBlock Origin, I returned to Firefox on Linux and Edge on Windows, which still has V2 and uBlock Origin working.

    @esreicht we haven't removed support for mv2 extensions. We just warned about the fact that we're not going to be able to maintain them forever, but they're still working in 8.3.

    @Vivaldi Surprised me this morning when I opened the browser on my laptop and found difficulty checking email, quickly corrected. I remember with my choice of operating system, updates aren't automatic. I found this among my updates and now with the Vivaldi browser updated on my machine, I now again receive email. So far, so good, thank you Vivaldi.
