Two cultural, or maybe just personal 😄 reasons I recoil at LLM mania:

One is imagining computers' repeatability will fade away, instead of supporting our coherence or stability as I'd imagined and hoped. (Goes beyond AI, will only if happen if more transparent computer interfaces continue to fade into deep settings & options.)

The other is that as an SF fan, I want our first encounter with the other to be with alien life from other planets. Today's "AI" is an odd foothill in uncanny valley.
