When I was young and took my sci-fi deadly seriously, I was not at all keen on the addition of K-9 to Doctor Who. A robot dog with a silly pun of a name seemed ever so naff.

Now I'm old, and a sentimental old fool at that, I can admit that the silly tin dog wormed his way into my heart. All credit to John Leeson's vocal performance.
