Our local Indivisible group did a very cool thing and paid to have a banner strung over the downtown area that reads “It’s your CHOICE – VOTE”. I don’t attend the weekly planning meetings, so I wasn’t part of that action. My only contribution is to attend some of the protests.
Such as the one today. The theme was anti-fascism, based on a video of other protesters that made signs saying things such as “Media Control - This is Fascism”, “Demonizing Minorities – This is Fascism”, “Voter Suppression – This is Fascism”. They held the signs in a long line along one road in the way of the old Burma Shave signs.
We did a similar thing today along the side of the main road. I knocked together a quick and dirty sign in about fifteen minutes last night, then joined the line of protesters for about an hour and a half. We got lots and lots of supportive honking.
I had thought of doing my sign about media control, but I figured someone was sure to do that, and I was right. I tried to go for something not as obvious, but still important. So far, the judges and courts are the only thing still holding our democracy together. Judges face terrible danger from MAGA and one judge had her son murdered. They need our support.
