Basically, the "I'm opening an investigation into [political opponent] now that election day is a week away" is turning into a classic modern US politico late-election cycle gambit.

Which makes Obama's refusal to investigate Trump in 2016 seem naive at best, and Biden's failure to prosecute Trump immediately after J6 for insurrection criminally negligent.
