Maybe Google saw this, because now EVERY question about a recent presidential election just directs you to the official tally site instead of answering straightforwardly.

Ah. And apparently only in the US. Folks overseas say the bot is allowed to give then correct information. It just can’t give an accurate answer to Americans.

So if you’re an American, “safety restrictions” prevent the AI from saying who won recent presidential elections. If you’re Canadian, apparently it’s safe to tell you. That is some creepy dystopian shit right there.

This seems both ridiculous and outrageous. The world’s top search engine, whose chatbot is (for better or worse) now the primary “result” for millions of people, has a hardwired mandate to fudge its results out of deference to Trump’s insane and false conspiracy theory.
