    I’m getting better at stippling. Inktober works! I used to think that if you used stippling you had to do the whole picture that way. In this one (and #Beacon) I was able to use it for texture and transition smoothly between it and other rendering techniques like feathering and hatching. I really like how that worked for the squirrel.

    When I was doing physical technical illustration I carved a set of chopsticks for doing various texturing patterns.

    Beacon really has the feel of 1920s or 30s stone lithograph illustrations you find in old books that cover the illustrations with a sheet of onion skin paper to protect them from scuffing.

    Your subtle use of light in the darkness is really good and has a misty feel to it.
