    @dbattistella Also tear gas comes in canisters which explode in the air, freeing burning black discs containing CS in powder form. Combustion of the discs creates an aerosol of dust carrying the CS powder.
    So a picture showing a canister with a trail of smoke is fake, 99.78% certainty.

    @ScriptFanix @dbattistella The tear gas canisters I was exposed to definitely released the gas rapidly as a plume of smoke.
    Admittedly 40 years ago. I was on the receiving and delivering end while being conscripted in the South African army. One thing is for sure, exposure to CS really sucks.

    @ScriptFanix @dbattistella interesting; I have not seen this version of the technology deployed yet (airburst + burning CS discs). [context: USA, west coast. tear gas grenades i’ve seen do emit plumes of smoke]

    where have you seen airburst canisters deployed? are they an EU thing, or what?

    @cmdrmoto
    That's the only kind I've seen in France. I'll try and find pictures to illustrate later

    I don't know about the rest of the EU, but now that you mention it I do remember seeing canisters used in videos of the protests and riots against the Genoa G8 in Italy.... in 2001.
