Oct 26, 2026, 12:32 PMIsn't it a bit weird how so many populist efforts to gain power involve voter suppression? Like, if you really were supported by the vast majority, who are sick of being downtrodden by a tiny elite, then surely you'd want as many people voting as possible?
@Garwboy Another good reason that voting should be mandatory for all citizens. Not to mention, "non citizen voting" (if that were actually a concern) wouldn't be able to make any difference relative to the huge numbers of ballots. (Though that part is already true, but dishonest politicians use fabricated concern anyway to suppress votes)
@Garwboy It’s also an indicator that we’re no longer living in a democracy if the party in power is taking measures to ensure they stay in power.
