@soapie You can still get stuff like this, if you are lucky. My Sony MDR-7506 Studio stereo headphones came with an exploded view and parts list for the mechanics, a "mounting diagram" for the wiring, and a "disassembly" diagram that shows you the correct place to use a screw driver as a pry to release the electrics from the mechanics.

I think I've only had them for 7 years.

Any "right to repair" movement that stops before requiring free (gratis and libre) access to such documents for _every_ consumer product is not going far enough for me.
