We lost the #internet. In the last decades, what looked like a formidable
glimmer of hope for collective organisation and sharing of universal knowledge progressively turned into a hyper-centralized corporate nightmare of control and surveillance. Whether the “free internet” was a pipe dream in the first place, a PsyOp, or a parenthesis as quickly closed as it has been opened
    is not the question here.

Yet, the promises of safer border-less electronic communications for all and universal access to uncensorable, shared, self- organized knowledge remain desirable objectives.

A few years ago, #Reticulum emerged as an alternative to the internet. It stands as a proposal that seems to learn from what turned the internet into such dystopian surveillance hell, and attempts to rebuild something differently, from scratch, avoiding those mistakes.

Also: "organized by the people for the people, that cannot be stopped or censored."

This will be hard, given that it either has to be on top of existing infrastructure (ISPs, backbones, all not censorship resistant) or per wireless, with frequencies controlled by the governments.

Personally I think, we should see circumvention measures (and I cannot imagine this is something different, given the above dependencies) only as a very temporary stopgap measure and fight for the liberation of the internet --- something that is now overdue, was perhaps due already 15-20 years ago.
