    @DrALJONES And so it begins... Low level intrusion, threats, then escalation to blackmail and the British version of epstein. Burnham hasn't the beginnings of a clue how to "keep his enemies close". He'll end up being a paper figurehead, essentially getting all our throats cut and oppressed in a "stasi" state.

    I guess you know that Britain has been a US client state since ww2. You can be sure that anyone ascending to UK political leadership these days has been vetted and warned....

    Having to get rid of the Corbyns is better avoided...

    @DrALJONES At a much lower level, I have been vetted in the past and, in true British style, it was an abject and miserable fail, on every count. To your point, smarter leaders than UK has had for 80 years would have pulled back somewhat, but they've been too complacent, lazy, arrogant, corrupt, incompetent, unimaginative.... The "farce is strong" with weak-minded "leaders"

    Yes, agree. However, especially since Oct 7, there's only the appearance of British independence from US domination, eg, UK recognition of a Palestinian state. The real stuff, eg, use of British airbases, is what the US vets.
