will probably need to do pmbootstrap again then. i wonder if i'll lose my app data. (it was nothing too special, but still.)

oh, wait. i disabled sshd by default with systemd, but now with openrc, it's enabled on startup again... so i can get in and maybe fix something.

@tmw I don't know much about Nura, but if it's Alpine-based that's interesting. On Debian, it's arguably best to install straight to a different init, but for folks migrating, there's some sort of two-step dance. I can look it up in case it has similarities.

Without hyperbole, I think making it hard to switch away is a design goal of systemd.

@mason i threw caution to the wind and used --force-broken-world knowing it might break something. it did. so now i'm just reinstalling. i hadn't done too much yet anyway.

@mason but yeah, the nura page on openrc has some scary warnings about the consequences of noncomformity and describes systemd as "the dominant service manager on Linux", and to me the word "dominant" evokes the dominating nature of that project

(their systemd page, which describes the process of "upgrading" from openrc to systemd, is why i decided to phrase this process as upgrading from systemd to openrc - along with the fact that i consider switching from software containing slop to software without it, a form of upgrade)
