Someone over on #XMPP told me: why don't you just use #NetBSD but hardened? Well, it's 2026 by now and NetBSD have promised nothing about bringing pledge and unveil, and I would assume it's not trivial to patch Firefox with them. If I had all the free time in the world, then surely I could try, but as it stands I'm still making baby steps away from being just a FOSS freeloader...
@fionescu your phrasing about us having previously freeloaded off of foss relative to now where we might raise ethical issues about chatbot useage with devs is super interesting.
@screwlisp Not sure what to make of this comment, sounds like you're nearly accusing me of "cancel culture"...? I'm no developer, and I guess I'll just use what's more secure at any given point... anything more than just would have been ideal, alas beggars can't be choosers...
@fionescu oh, no, it was making me think about myself. Now that users are being more proactive about what-they'll-accept in terms of projects they have used, I was interested in the idea that if someone wants to be a serious part of the conversation they have to begin being a serious part of the conversation, whereas to a large extent I had previously been more passive. It's a good thought.
