I was taught in a first aid training by the American Red Cross that running away is a valid option, especially if you risk being late for an important appointment by stopping to help. I think the point the instructor was trying to make was that if you start to provide first aid, you have to see it through and can’t change your mind along the way. However, for me as someone from a country where you can get into more legal trouble for not helping than for trying to help and then get sued, that point was very difficult to comprehend.
