    Why oh why do I have to go deepest into my special interests late at night?

    When I'm not utterly exhausted (yet sometimes when I'm damn near), late at night, I get a second wind, I get into hyperfocus, and next I know it's 4am, I'm still not sleepy, and I'm in flow state doing my thing.

    fuuuuuuck.

    @elight because that's when it gets quiet. Everyone else is in bed, the world is calm, and your mind starts to wander... Then the mind bites hard into something tasty and doesn't let go.

    At least that's what it's like for me

    @lizzard I think you have it. For me, sometimes, it starts as a nibble—but if that nibble tastes good enough, then the brain wants more. By 4am, I'm binging on that tastiness.

    On one hand, I feel regret that I'm going to wake so much later than my wife. OTOH, I don't get much flow state these days. It's hard to feel too sorry for letting myself sink into that blissfulness.

    @elight @lizzard
    Late night is when the human world goes quiet and we can relax and be ourselves. There's also no call, or chance, to do any of the other things that we feel that we should be doing, so no sense of guilt about doing our thing instead.

    @elight Because neuro divergent brains like to work their own way. I know that feeling well - like realising it's 2.30 and I have to be up for work at 7, but if I try to sleep now, I'll just end up milling on the hyperfocus topic instead so wouldn't get much sleep anyway.
