    Meta and other such companies are now using their AI tools to completely alter the way art is distributed, valued and created. Artists, illustrators, makers and designers are facing a major crisis.

    From online accusations leading to artists needing to prove their work is 100% made by the human hand to stolen art through data scraping. All of this ultimately devalues true creativity.

    This may be a minor issue to some but it goes far deeper. We know how important art is. It’s a defining human endeavour. It enriches us, it empowers, inspires and connects us. We need to keep it that way.

    The AI push started with the art world. Now we’re allowing billionaires, tech bros and machines to alter and destroy so much of what we hold dear. AI now grows at an exponential rate and without proper regulations could (will?) be devastating. And it’s happening in real time.

    AI crosses boundaries of ethics, law and environmental sustainability. We must fight to curb it before it’s too late.

    @leemadgwick
    It's not minor at all.

    When I imagined a (far) future, it would be one where humans hardly had to work, was provided for, and could pursue things like art. And not necessarily good art either. Just let me draw for the joy of it?

    Instead they failed at making tech that was beneficial and just made something that mimics art.

    @worldwidewerner Yes, exactly. They’re failing at most things that now seem inevitable for a dystopian future. And humanity hasn’t learned a thing from all the warning signs over the years.

    @jo I’ve yet to find the answer to this. It really is, I can’t help but worry about where this is all heading.
