@voyagers

If there ever was something that I am just mad at for no reason, it’s the scale of the universe, hell, even the galaxy. These things were launched before I was born, and they are only a LIGHT DAY away! On a scale that we measure our nearest neighbors in LIGHT YEARS! That’s just unfair :(

Voyager 1 is 25.86 billion km/16.07 billion miles away from Earth and will reach 1 light-day from Earth in 16 days, 5 hours: https://eyes.nasa.gov/apps/solar-system/#/sc_voyager_1/distance?to=earth

Voyager 2 is 21.66 billion km/13.46 billion miles away from Earth: https://eyes.nasa.gov/apps/solar-system/#/sc_voyager_2/distance?to=earth

Finished the first season of Widow's Bay.

It is a peculiar show. Rather than being a monster-of-the-week show, it is more horror-trope-of-the-week show. Sea hag? Boom. Michael Myers? Got you covered. Not to mention all the llow-key tropes (see below). It seems to be some writers just exercising their horror muscles. But still, it is at times incredibly clever. I mean, the card game, RUN, was such a good gag. Worth it to watch just for bits like that.

On a related note: Never connect refrigeration devices to the internet.

Or any critical equipment, corporate or personal.

Like March 2020, and Infrastructure Week, it seems that Cyber Security Awareness Month is resisting its end.

"The Voyager 1 spacecraft, which was designed for a five-year mission to observe Jupiter and Saturn, is about to reach a distance of one light-day from Earth after nearly 50 years in flight."

The number of times white people have described me as "well-spoken", with a tone of surprise and with that same expression, is too many.

It always exposes the racism – conscious or not – of those who've used that phrase to describe me, regardless of context.

It's a phrase that needs to die because the baggage it carries has it permanently stuck in the fetid muck of bias and prejudice.

"protective pardons" is just "the government is an actual organized crime ring", which I guess is technically accurate, but still

"yeah I'm gonna pardon you for all the crimes you've been doing that haven't been prosecuted yet, and also if you want to do new crimes, the prepardon will cover those too, why not. basically you just get to do crimes if you want to, thats your prerogative. unless I need you to do crimes for me, then it's my prerogative. or if you piss me off, maybe I'll do some crimes to you. anyway, have fun doing the crimes babe"

how exactly are "protective pardons" a thing? it doesn't even make sense

"... a civilization is not destroyed by wicked people; it is not necessary that people be wicked but only that they be spineless."
-- James Baldwin (1923-1987)

If you are in the US and eligible, go vote tomorrow for candidates with spines.

Closing Arguments

Democracy itself is on the ballot. I know that sounds dramatic - but the stakes really are existential.

"Don't be afraid to dream bigger", white people still clinging to the old "rules" and "norms" as if they haven't failed since at least 2000, catastrophically so since June 15, 2015.

@stellarsarah pretty sure that's a parody site

It looks like Haley Stevens's staffers made some changes to her website on their way out.

Edit: Oops, apparently this is a parody, it's just way more popular than her page so I assumed it was official.

Oh look, the "centrist" Democrats are fucking over a progressive nominee again, literally endorsing a Republican

Some of the most pathetic centrist Democrats are more worried about the rise of socialism within their own party than they’re worried about the rise of fascism under Trump.

Who cares about the death troops when there are people who think things like food and healthcare should be cooperative instead of investor-owned corporations.

The very people who constantly told progressives to “vote blue no matter who” are now actively opposing the nominated Democratic candidate.

They’re “Democrats” who hate democracy.
