Don’t know what a #French acronym means? Just read it backwards:
• IA → AI
• VIH → HIV
• ONU → UNO
• OTAN → NATO
• UE → EU

I strongly encourage everyone interested in web accessibility to read through the docs. It's so rare to see components with this much thought and actual testing put into them!
Excited to share my latest piece with Gravesite Media, where I talk about the fact that you cannot register a domain for longer than 10 years. Which is kind of a problem when you die.

- Is your Mastodon timeline too full or too empty?
- Are you missing posts by your favourite accounts?
- Are you seeing too many boosts from certain accounts?
You can get help with all these and more in this guide to customising your Mastodon timeline:
MacOS: IINA is a great video player that mostly works like Apple’s QuickTime Player but lets you “dock” (*) playback controls so that they never obscure the video (and are never hidden).

We tested 25 package managers against a simulated malicious repository. Without a lockfile, only Go and vcpkg cryptographically verified every download in our tests. Fewer than half checked for tampering through lockfiles by default.
Keegan Ryan explains where hashes and signature verification fall short, and how identity-based signing and transparency logs could help.

Wow! I genuinely believe that constantly trying to trick others eventually makes your life miserable. And it’s contagious: I’ve seen people change simply by studying an MBA.
@zachleat I recently read something about “open loops” (=unfinished tasks) being a cognitive burden and am wondering:
What if it were easy to add older open tabs to an archive of links (and close them)? Data per link:
• URL
• Title
• Topic (crucial for retrieval—think one or more short tags such as “JS”, “politics”, “cooking”, etc.)
• If available: date of the tab being opened
• Maybe: Date of last update of web page
Users would have to be prompted for a tag—unless a tab is in a tab group.
For my dad, I’m trying to figure out how to best enable him to watch streaming content on his TV via his iPad.
• Right now, HDMI cable plus USB-C adapter works reasonably well. A longer cable would probably already help him a lot.
• Are there any *simple* dongles that support AirPlay and work well? Apple TV 4K probably works best but is expensive and adds yet another user interface to the mix.
I am a habitual tab hoarder (I have 321 tabs open right now) so I created a Firefox addon to help me manage every one of my very special tabs:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/list-all-tabs-updated/
You can sort your tabs by oldest, unload them, duplicate hosts, consolidate tabs to a single window — buncha useful stuff in there
Someone once told me that computer people amuse them: They often lower the blinds so that the sun doesn’t blind them while they look at their computer screens.
Certainly true for me. 🙈
When it comes to scientific computing and fintech: What features is #JavaScript missing that other languages have?
Lexical similarity between Romance languages—e.g., Catalan is more similar to Italian (87%) than to Spanish (85%), French (85%) and Portuguese (85%).

This is probably both the best and the worst time to announce this, but for the past few months I’ve been building a vector drawing app, because the existing ones either don’t work for me, use deceptive subscription models, or both.
The app is called Superlinea: https://superlinea.app
I’ve also started a blog to share progress as I develop it: https://superlinea.app/blog
And you can also subscribe to the newsletter to get updates by email.
So what do the survey results actually mean? Hard to say because so many aspects of my post introduce biases:
• The question being asked in English.
• There only being four choices.
• Who follows me.
• Etc.
Maybe: What languages do people speak who read posts written in English?
Here's a funky learning from a couple of years ago: do you know that there's a `CSS` namespace in JavaScript that includes a method to `escape` CSS selectors?
