Stormy Winter Blues....
Woke up this morning.
Looked out of my door.
Found a trampoline.
I never had before.

I'm thinking a lot about trust, because most folks still then run some proprietary apps in their lives, esp if they have a phone, or game.
And the social contract that enabled and supported open source is... being shredded and burned.
We had norms for crawling, do it slowly and respectfully and respect robots.txt. New generation of AI folks were like "eh that's hard. what if we didn't" and are hammering public open source infrastructure offline.
We license code, much to keep it open, or retain attribution, but suddenly none of that matters as the AI folks shovel it all into the fire of ai training right beside all the actually stolen IP they can procure as well. If they're happy to pirate all copy righted books made, why would they care about copy left licenses?
The law of cats is genetic memory so kittens have an innate understanding.

So when did we all agree that sending a one-time password in email is more secure than using a secure password?

who called it "senior developers" and not "old men yelling at claude"?
User wants a program to do X, so they ask AI to do it, and it gives them a program to do X.
If user had written X themselves via thinking, they would have discovered along the way that they also needed Y and Z. That X breaks A, B and C. That D is now redundant and can be dropped. And finally, E already implemented X.
I'm certain this is exactly why so many applications and websites have been /breaking/ in baffling ways recently. Things that used to work now don't, pointless new features etc.
I love how our house looks all classy and cultured because we have framed prints of theatre posters on the wall in the dining room.
And then you actually look at the prints.
The real reason I spend so much time at the circus school is that I have been slowly developing an immunity to clowns. This allows me to continue to do tech policy.
