RE: https://event-federation.eu/2026/10/29/update-on-our-specification-work/

I just published two Fediverse Enhancement Proposals.

Happy to hear your thoughts!

Currently working on a #FEP called "Concept Relationships of ActivityPub objects for Federated Classification".

Probably there will be a first internal review amongst @lauti, @Bonfire and @mobilizon before the first draft is submitted to the FEP repository.

There now is a poll plugin for #WordPress that has full #Fediverse support.

Since a few minutes it is finally officially available on WordPress.org.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/polls-for-activitypub/

Thanks to @nlnet and @NGIZero for support the initial development of this piece of software. And thanks to @pfefferle for his ongoing work on the WordPress ActivityPub plugin @activitypub.blog !

I am happy to receive reviews and am ready to fix stuff in case issues should arise!

A question for how Fediverse polls should behave:

Should polls be allowed to be re-opened again and again. Without the votes to reset? Or should there be a limit like when the poll is closed for some time re-opening will reset the vote count.

The issue is that as long re-opening is possible and votes should not reset the information who voted for what needs to be preserved, otherwise at some point we just need to store the poll result.

Trying to submit the my #WordPress Polls for ActivityPub Plugin to the Plugin directory, but only getting LLM reviews so far, which pointed out some tiny non-breaking bugs in the beginning, but now only shows false positives. It is ridiculos. And they state that they only use LLMs for the first two rounds of feedback. And still getting the same wrong feedback stuck in a loop.

https://epicenter.works/thema/ueberwachungspaket#Kennzeichenerfassung

If you are developing #WordPress plugins or themes and want to setup a fast and easy to maintain CI workflow on #Forgejo or #Codeberg, you can use a special action for that:

https://code.forgejo.org/linos/setup-wordpress

I use it myself in multiple projects. I hope this will lower the barrier for others to migrate away from GitHub etc, too!

The development of this was supported by #NLnet

...Automated tests of the action and small refactoring with better inline code documentation are a work-in-progress!

RE: https://event-federation.eu/2026/05/15/recurring-events-in-federation/

Events turned out to be a much harder problem then I've had imagined, especially if you go down the rabbit hole of related or recurring events. If writing a FEP I want to get it right.

There is this balance about being easy to implement easy to understand, yet being feature rich and allowing for different use cases.

And all this at best while encapsulating the (maybe) complex logic within a system and keeping the confusion away from users and federation. We'll see!

Using this anyone can play around with the UI with one click in a WordPress that runs locally in your browser:

🎉 Finally I released the first beta-version of the plugin that brings ActivityPub-polls to the #WordPress world! :mastodance:

https://codeberg.org/linos/wordpress-polls-for-activitypub/releases/tag/1.0.0-beta

It should be listed in the WordPress plugin directory soon, too. However, I am quite confident, it is ready to be tried out already.

Thanks to @nlnet for the support of this work.

Dear #WordPress users, I want to hear your opinion!

I'm currently finishing my work on the Polls For #ActivityPub plugin.

I decided to use a custom post type for polls. However, many people mentioned that they would like to also add polls to normal posts.

My first question is: what is the best workflow/UI for the block-editor when adding a new poll block to a normal post?

I started with an empty state: "Create new Poll, Embed existing poll". Here I was wondering, whether I should directly enforce the user to create a poll which is stored as a draft when choosing "Create new poll", or keeping all data local to the post until the post is saved/published.

And should I allow the user to edit an embedded poll inline? Or should I just link to the edit link of the poll directly, once it's created? And how many warnings about such relationships do users expect? When deleting a poll that might be embedded. Isn't it similar to media? What are your wishes?!

I just packaged REEV-R, and FOSS impulse reverb for professional audio for the arch linux user repository. I hope there are no issues, with the packaging.

I wonder why @Mastodon has built the feature that allows to hide a polls results until it ended, but does not make use of it in it's own clients.

CC @andypiper

A question for my fellow #Fediverse advocates:

I am currently working again on ActivityPub polls for WordPress. #Mastodon has a kind of hidden feature (not accessible by most clients) to hide the poll results until the poll has ended. This only includes how much votes each option has got so far, not the total amount of people that voted already.

Should I offer an site-wide setting so that this does not apply for the poll-creator, when the "hide totals" flag is set?

And lastly I wanted to mention "Cable". A graphical GUI for managing #PipeWire and #WirePlumber. An amazing piece of software. Simple but so important! Having the basic audio settings like sample-rate or offset and restarting the system-d services at hand. Latter has sadly been needed with my old interface, because it did not get detected by WirePlumber after Stand-By. (3/3)
