As I mentioned, Proximidad fares/services don't need (or offer) seat reservations. But don't get complacent...
Tomorrow morning's Proximidad fares from Malaga to El Chorro are sold out. So you don't need a seat reservation but can't actually get a ticket. There are Media Distancia seats left on the same train, but only a handful.
Don't like it? Well, you should have planned your casual trip 1 hour outside the city weeks ago, shouldn't you?

But this contraption also reminds me of the time when I was a kid that my mom brought her afternoon glass of white Zinfandel on a drive over to a restaurant for dinner and spilled it into the center console (which housed the fuse box) rendering the car both inoperable and unable to shut off. Sometimes i wonder how I survived my childhood.

I have seen some things in trains over the years, but this is genuinely a first
A hen night group in the TGV I have just left had attached wine glass holders with a suction cup to the inside of the TGV window!

But if those are anything like IKEA’s suction gadgets, crash goes your glass when the TGV hits a bump!

It thinks the train I’m on is doing c. 160km/h
My GPS (and my eyes!) think it’s more like 300km/h
The question is whether the data Trayn gets is wrong. Or whether it’s somehow extrapolating data to create a “live” position and that’s wrong?
Via @moof I found a new French rail live tracking website Trayn
But how it positions trains is somehow really off. It put this Lyria as being beyond Besançon Franche Comté TGV more than 10 minutes before it got there, and I was there so can confirm it was wrong
And yeah why am I hanging around 30 mins here to await another TGV? Because the Frankfurt - Marseille TGV I was on to here and that skirts the edge of Dijon nevertheless doesn’t stop there 🤷♂️

2️⃣ Staff for it (more costs)
3️⃣ Enough passengers to board there
4️⃣ An operator who’ll stop there
5️⃣ Relieve pressure on St Pancras
That means 1 station, not 2 or 3. And that means Ashford
