I’ve been way too lazy lately to get any walking in but the weather today was too good to waste so I made the effort to go for a stroll along the beach. Well worth it.

Is the PHP vulnerability event, hacked by AI/LLM & then websites taken down to 'repair' the vulnerability, the start of a wave of such vulnerability exposures (and the work required to close them off)?

Matthew Green (John Hopkins U) says we're discovering 'the whole internet is dry tinder & the only thing keeping it from burning is the fact teenagers have't found the matches yet'... as AI/LLMs reveal vulnerability so the wreckers will leap in.

Grim if true!

If you've never written time code, you have no idea how fucked up time code is to write.

You know the common expression "it's not rocket science"?

Time code is fucking rocket science. Grownup programmers *never* write that shit by hand, they *always* turn to people who write it for a living.

Classic joke, here.

It’s funny (not funny at all) that the Ireland-is-full lot are not at all bothered by this invasion.

"I always just ask the monster"

Julie DiCaro:

"In this miasma of misogyny, Patrick Stewart was a shining beacon of moral fortitude. He was the guy women aren’t afraid to get in the elevator with. He was the man women would have trusted to walk our friends home. He was the guy we’d pick, again and again, over the bear. In a world of Shane Gillises and Johnny Depps, Patrick Stewart stood out as an advocate, a protector, and what we wish more men would be."

Israeli soldier posts photo of journalist Marah Awad's arrest after home raid in Beit Ummar, north of Hebron!

If it was Russia, China or Iran, it would be reported by all western media.

But it is occupied Palestine and Israel can't be criticized, because it hurts the feeling of pro Genocide people in the west.

this is a minor plot point in one of Iain M. Banks' Culture stories - " Stewed Idi Amin ... General Pinochet Chili Con Carne ... a General Stroessner Meatballs and Richard Nixon Burgers… scattered bowls of Fricasséed Kim Il Sung, Boiled General Videla and Ian Smith in Black Bean Sauce…”

This is FASCINATING. Researchers were able to pin down the cause of measurable global 60 second power spikes to software that does regular tasks on the minute mark. They found large scale battery installations as one major cause, but obviously this is true for any other computerized system that does cron jobs and has a synchronized clock. As weird as it sounds, adding random 0-59.999s delays to cron jobs in Linux distributions and other software would actually help the power grid.

OK, now we’re officially screwed.

If Cisco makes the roads that the Internet runs on, this is like funding a no-expense-spared moonshot project to scatter every single inch of tarmac on the planet with shiny stainless-steel caltrops.

We had a team to deal with Ebola worldwide to contain it. Republicans fired them and shut it down.

#EnochBurke is now (un)wanted by cops on both sides of the border

The #Gardaí want Enoch for trespassing, and for €238,268.18 in unpaid fines. Allianz Insurance wants Enoch for €600,000+ which they have paid out to protect the school.

Up North, the #PSNI wants Enoch for assaulting the Archbishop.

But both Gardaí & PSNI hope that the other lot gets him first, and refuses extradition. Wh9bwajts that migraine?

Enoch is Schrodinger's ex-teacher. Simultaneously wanted & unwanted.

And this, folks, is why every #sysadmin you know is absolutely hating life right now and actively reconsidering their career choices.
