Kinda want to play Age of Empires 2 but I am also aware I probably don't have time to properly dive back into that one

Lol that's just me clicking around like a madman to find new industry folk to follow. They are not very power user friendly

- By design, only some mainstream distributions will be supported. The list is impressive for a commercial product but it's still a limitation.

So there we have it.

I wanted online gaming and advanced anti-cheat to come to Linux but not like this, man. Not like this.

And yet, can I fully reject it? Am I not at least willing to give it a try? After I've been waiting for this for so long.

- And so the launcher will not be secure enough to use it for payments or private chat conversations. It will be riddled by bugs that will be difficult to track and there won't be a developer accountable for those.

- The entire idea of anti-cheat systems monitoring the PC so comprehensively at the lowest level is just wrong and should be rejected.

- There would be an systemd service, always on by default, even though they say it will only be active when a game using anti-cheat is running.

...this is problematic!

Where to even begin?

- TPM or Secure Boot are still no less controversial and against privacy and independence that are the pillar of the Linux and open source community.

- Steam hardware like Steam Deck or Steam Machine would be unsupported specifically because they opted out from most of those settings.

- Epic admitted to have vibe coded their new launcher. They openly want to use more and more AI in all their processes.

Honestly I feel soooo conflicted about the Epic Games Launcher + Easy Anti Cheat v2 + Fortnite news.

Having Fortnite on Linux & finally satisfying anti-cheat makers that Linux is safe enough for online gaming could be the breakthrough we've been waiting for.

I just wanna play online games on Linux, man. If that could be achieved by a couple settings in UEFI BIOS which are on by default... Maybe it's not so bad?

And yet...

My take: I absolutely HATE what we've done to machine learning. We as in the capitalist society. I don't want to use any corporate-backed non-open source "AI" tool. Or anything that was trained on stolen data, used without specific & not forced permission.

But I do think ML has incredible accessibility uses (speech recognition to text, image recognition).

Maaaaaybe some automation too. Super reluctant about that part. Because what's wrong with manual scripting?

Hey fedi, I need to see something 👹

Is all AI bad in your eyes? 🤖🤢

Leaving it multiple choice by purpose because ambiguity is allowed.

Brand loyalty is a super powerful thing and it works for indie games in my case. If I am a fan of the studio's previous work, mixed reviews on Steam won't deter me from the purchase.

I like this ✅ At least on the surface, because I didn't have any time to look at it in detail yet

You know what's super annoying about the super rich?

They can say whatever vile thing comes to their mind without consequences.

An elected leader would pay dearly for the same evil quotes that make the headlines for tech moguls and only are ever used to drive clicks.

But a powerful rich oligarch, even after openly admitting their goal is to harm humanity, can continue making money and using it to heavily influence our reality.

Google has finally caught up with indexing TikTok videos in the search results 🆗

It's useful at times! Because it used to be impossible to find even the most popular TikToks through search 😬
