Today was again not a good day for a long ride, wet, cool, cloudy and windy. But I had a few errands to run, I used the ebike. First I had to deliver my wife's smartphone to her at the pottery studio. Then I went to the craft beer store to stock up for the upcoming holiday. On the way home my rear tire went slowly flat, barely making it home. There was some grit and debris inside the tire, probably the cause, but where did it come from?

Has anybody here solved the following conundrum?

- wanting a bluetooth/gps tracker to be able to recover a stolen bicycle (or other use case)
- not trusting Google, Apple and other companies to not use/sell/lose data
- using a deGoogled phone and Linux computer (in my case, LineageOS and Fedora)

That is, I would want to be able to recover my bicycle if stolen, while keeping my daily movements as private as possible. Enshittified web search has not helped much..

Someone else made a comment about how it took literal concentration camps, but.. I think ultimately it was the price of gas that did it, especially in a lot of these R strongholds that flipped after decades.
