Looking forward to begging politicians getting the fuck off my phone tomorrow

If you squint your eyes (may need to expand the pic) you’ll see 2 acorn woodpeckers peeking out of their individual cavity nests.

“Dead” trees are often full of life and key to our ecosystem.

Oh, right: found my old election official pin from when I used to volunteer at the polls back East. Think I’ll wear it tomorrow. 😄

I can’t stand a messy house, so I make the bed every morning.

Sometimes I step out of the shower to find it immediately un-made. But how can I even get mad when I walk in and see this?!

Tucked under the covers, head on the pillow next to my teddy bear, holding his beloved Esmeralda La Rana… my #ServiceDog is absolutely ridiculous! 😍

Tomorrow is a day off, having been on-call through the weekend. Plan is to first take care of the dogs, then get my backside into the voting booth as soon as they open the doors. Anything after that is gravy.

book recommendation: The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion by Margaret Killjoy

this one is the first in a series of anarchist eldritch horror novellas. it's a really fucking neat and thoughtful examination of how power is violence no matter who wields it and how communities must contend with that fact.

it's not the first thing of hers ive read; her short story collection We Won't Be Here Tomorrow is excellent and i really enjoy her anarchist history podcast, Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff. im looking forward to reading the sequels and her new not-YA book The Sapling Cage :D

#NativeAmericaCalling - Tribes remain excluded from some major #water policy decisions

Wednesday, October 14, 2026

" Tribes remain excluded from some major water policy decisions
Across the country, tribes are coming up against resistance to having their voices heard on issues involving water.

In #California, tribes say they feel betrayed by Gov. #GavinNewsom ’s vetoes of legislation that would have given the tribes more say in access to the state’s dwindling surface water supply. The #Karuk Tribe and the #ShingleSpringsBand of #Miwok Indians were instrumental in drafting the legislation.

Meanwhile, over on the East Coast, tribes just pulled out of a coalition planning a clean-up strategy for the #ChesapeakeBay. After a year of negotiation, the tribes say the other regional elected leaders refused to give them equal status in the clean-up talks.

Also, hear from attorney #FatimaAbbas , the first director to lead the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Tribal and Native Affairs, which aims to streamline tribes’ access to federal funding and economic development.

Guests on Native America Calling
Russell 'Buster' Attebery (Karuk), Chairman of the Karuk Tribe in California

Frankie Myers (Yurok), CEO and co-founder of Fix the World Consulting and former vice chairman of the #Yurok Tribe in California

Fatima Abbas ( #HaliwaSaponi ), attorney and former director of U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Tribal and Native Affairs

Melissa Ann Ehrenreich, executive director of the #IndigenousConservationCouncil "

Black people in Senatobia Mississippi are continuing to demand justice for for the June 2026 murder of one year old Kohen Wiley at the hands of local police.

A cop named Hunter Foster has been determined to be the most likely kid killer in uniform.

This week I noticed local figures demanding the state AG, Lynn Finch, actually take action! They need to name the murder and charge 'em now!

'We are torturing people and tormenting people,’ Morton said.” #DíadeMuertos

I wonder how much rent I can charge my new lodger?
She's taken up residence in my garden wall 😊
I wonder if she's hoping for board as well as lodging?

British beans for breakfast. Add some hot sauce, and it’s *chef’s kiss*. The gluten-free sourdough bread flavor/texture was disappointing, but it’s still decent bread if I ignore what the package claims 😂.
A couple of fried eggs, as protein intake needed a boost.

May just lay around and watch horror movies today. Hope you all have the day you need!
