New CHVRCHES tracks v good

It looks like every podcast app copied the "skip silence" feature of Overcast but never copied the best power user feature: sorting the list of playable podcasts by priority.

Overcast lets me sort podcasts in a playlist into 3 buckets: important, unimportant, and "other". Inside the important and unimportant, I can also order the podcasts.
With that I always have "I want to listen to it when it releases" podcasts at the top and "I listen to it when I have time" at the bottom.

Curious why.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.

Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date.

Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too.

Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course.

Okay, hear me out. If it is not okay for the CDU to expropriate a company with 3.000 apartments, then we should convert the next village that has to be removed because of a coal mine or highway, to a company 🤡

In Ungarn, Serbien und Brasilien haben Bewegungen mit viel Energie, Ausdauer und Mobilisierung gegen Autoritäre gewonnen.

Überall wurde ihnen vorher gesagt:
„Keine Chance.“

That was a perfect day. And the cherry on top was that I wanted to post about this place in the https://papiberlin.de Slack, only to discover that someone had posted about it just minutes earlier. They were still at the exhibition, and I found them sitting next to us building with their kid! Berlin is so random sometimes. I love it.

Since this goes viral:

Trans rights are human rights.

No human is illegal.

All security issues have to wait. I am sorting wooden blocks 😍😍😍.

If you also want to do something amazing with your kids in #Berlin: Hamburger Bahnhof has this amazing exhibit until the start of next year.

“2025 kam die [PHP] Foundation auf Spenden von etwa 700.000 Euro pro Jahr. Aus Mangel an Ressourcen konnte das PHP‑Team schon vor zwei Jahren die Ursachen einer der Sicherheitslücken von 2026 nicht final beheben. Zum Vergleich: Die Omarchy Foundation, deren Gründer offen rechtsextrem ist, hat allein im Jahr 2026 bislang mehr als 18 Millionen US-Dollar eingetrieben.“ - @bkastl

BTW: it's funny to see big companies like Slack in the Duo showcase, who to this day don't have a proper Android foldable/tablet version of their app.

eMudhra says it will voluntarily exit the global SSL/TLS certificate business.

They also promised a root-cause report, but "our cryptography was built on vibes and hopes" should cover it.

Dear future #FOSDEM speakers / devroom organizers / attendees, will you take the #FOSDEMPledge ?

HUGE thanks to @janl for this brilliant initiative! ❤️

If this had been a woman in a senior dev, security or SRE position, she would not have concluded this with an inspiring LinkedIn post about "not always getting it right".

This guy is the CEO of Chainguard by the way.

I hope that this causes Chainguard to be kept away from any security related embargoes until trust has been properly restored.

The iPhone Duo has the same issue the Android foldables have: the apps need to adjust. I would not spend 2k NOW to have that kind of shitty experience. Wait it out, get the 2nd gen...hopefully the app ecosystem on iOS is better at adapting to this than the Android one is, but I am not very hopeful.

Android tablets still are useless outside of browsing and watching media because most Android apps don't bother to implement a big-screen layout to this day.

We finally have a venue and date confirmed - RubyConf AU is indeed returning for 2027 on March 18th and 19th in Narrm / Melbourne. Tickets & CFP will follow soon. #RubyConfAU #Ruby

For anyone travelling over and wanting to make a holiday of it - maybe stay an extra week after and catch some of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival as well! 😁 #MICF

After this stressful day I can luckily relax with watching the #JetLagTheGame outtakes they published today on Nebula 😍

And now I'm hearing that the original researcher found it via a Google tool called Paranoid. We actually run that tool on leaf certificates with some regularity. I guess we just didn't consider to run it on roots… (in our defense, neither did the researcher, they just wanted to test the tool before running it on the actual target.)
