Senator Ross Cadell appears to have a very good handle on relevant technology, and is asking excellent technical questions in the #TelstraOutage parliamentary inquiry. Get stuck into them Ross.

So according to Brady, the three time servers are in three different locations around Australia.

The devices are 15 years old. Equipment that uses software relying on GPS data needs to be updated very often and regularly.

GPS data needs to be accurate to microseconds to be reliable. Three devices in three locations can't regulate each other that accurately.

They need redundancy at each location, and three devices for that redundancy. And they must be hardware, firmware, and software functionally identical. The devices check their timing against other devices in the system.

Telstra were negligent with time critical systems and waiting longer than a few hours to correct the known faults.

Three devices at $30,000 is nine devices around the country for triple redundancy at #270,000. A pittance for the company. Triple that to replace them with more reliable hardware, and triple that to install and comprehensively test prior to switching over. A few million dollars. Too much and too expensive for Telstra? It would take a few years to complete safely.

That same #NewsCorpse LNP mouthpiece asking her cretinous questions that have already been answered. And #YTK. Are you really that fucking stupid? #TelstraOutage #TelstraDown

So Telstra has fixed one problem, and "discovered" (caused?) another.
Are they AI vibe coding the solutions?
They are, aren't they. They're vibe coding the whole thing. #TelstraOutage #TelstraDown

A ceasefire in this idiotic war around the #Strait_of_Hormuz between the USA and Iran will only hold if the man who started it for his own personal gain deigns to allow it. Benjamin Netanyahu still needs distractions to stay out of prison. If he does accede, what will he do to keep covering his arse? #Hormuz

The third spam phone call from randomly generated spoofed phone numbers today. Generally I just ignore them. Answered the third to piss around with the bot call centre. Wait for the click when it's switched to the call centre in #WhereEverTheFuckItIs.

In my best Mafia hitman voice.

"Da job is done.
Dere's a lotta blood
Send da Clean-up crew"
and hang up.

At least the poor bastard being exploited to make these calls might have had a chuckle.

I await the SWAT team with 'bated breath.

What's the difference between a lentil and a chickpea?

Donald Trump never paid to have a lentil on him.

The centre one is Pauline Hanson. #AusPol #OneNotion

Here's the thing with the Strait of Hormuz oil shipments. It takes 14 to 28 days for ship from the middle east to arrive in Australian refineries.

Everything that has arrived left before Trump, at the behest of Netanyahu, started this war.

Everything still on the way for the next 14-28 days also passed through before the war, and the only people jacking the price up are the refining companies and petrol station corps. Hmmm. Coles, Whale Oil ...

The new leader of the Libs spent $94 million in 2020 to purchase crude oil for storage in the US. Where'd that go Angus? #Auspol #QuestionTime

It's been bugging me for a while. But here it is #AusPol #UsPol #trump_board_of_peace

Donald Trump's Board of Peace is just a cheap, tacky rip-off of the classy Sir Les Patterson's Australian Cheese Board.

Trump has the same complexion, the same moral standard, the same taste in clothes. Ok, he's about 9 inches shorter ... in the ... umm ... that department. But his idea is so blatantly second hand as to be a joke at the expense of Sir Les.

Who wore it best?

The best description of Well Done Angus yet.

Has Well Done Angus (burnt steak) (pictured below) fallen into the poisoned chalice if Liberal leadership yet. Or will he avoid that trap? #AusPol #LibSpill

Ticket sales (two of them) 10 minutes before the start of the Melanoma movie in a Melbourne cinema. Management must be so pissed off that they actually have to show this to the two dorks who paid to see it. The cost of running the aircon would be more than the profit from selling two tickets. 111 seats, 109 unsold.

(6:15 pm, a huge rush on tickets. Three total losers have bought a ticket).

I am proud to present US President #DonaldTrump with this, my hard won golf trophy, to hang beside his #NobelPeacePrize.

An award that I've held in the highest esteem for over a decade. He deserves it more than I do.
My solid brown and gold NAGA Award.

You know what doesn't happen with Nobel Prizes for science? Physics, Chemistry, etc. The awardees don't give them to psychotic paedophiles.

I think the big takeaway from the DRS and ball tracking in this series is that the technology isn't worth a pinch of shit.
