Tl;Dr: if you suddenly lose hearing in one ear, go to a specialist *immediately.* It can be reversed if you go early enough.

I woke up two weeks ago and couldn't hear properly in my left ear. "Meh, earwax or a cold" I thought and ignored it. It didn't get better so we went to a nearby clinic the next weekend.

I'd lost ~30dB throughout all lower frequencies, speaking range included. "Idiopathic sensorineural hearing loss".

Unfortunately, the data center's location isn't enough to keep you in control of the IT you paid for.

To me it's just a propaganda stunt to get people to accept more cuts to public services while the government siphons more public money into private hands. I think it's more about that than a genuine attack from Russia and/or China.

Actually to divert from the most real danger, disruption by usa helped by far right scum like farage, tommy robinson and friends..

Tonight at the Portland Thorns vs NC Courage game, TERFs in the GA supporters section wearing XXXY shirts held up transphobic banners during the second half. Supporters in the section responded by waving trans flags, and more trans flags were passed out to supporters in front of them to block out their banner. As the game progressed, brave fans took their banners as the crowd chanted "Trans Lives Matter" and "Go home, fascists go home." Members of the Rose City Riveters held up Trans Lives Matter scarves and marched up and down the aisles. The message was clear: Transphobic bullshit isn't welcome in Portland.

Eventually security arrived and escorted the group of fascists away. As they were led out of the stadium, they filmed fans who waved trans flags and middle fingers at them.

Tonight was the last home game of the regular season for the Thorns, and fascists attempted to exploit that as a chance to stir up anti-trans hate at the game. Portland resoundingly told them to go fuck themselves.

Some Dem House members are saying they don't favor impeachment because they won't have the votes in the Senate for removal.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of their role as defenders of democracy and the rule of law. The purpose of impeachment is to reveal and establish the facts of high crimes and misdemeanors, and to render judgement. It is an obligation, not an option.

The second phase is the penalty phase, akin to sentencing. Concern about severity of the sentence is not their job.

Confirmed again. Trump, Musk are just lying all the time, supporting Russia, increasing the number of civilians killed in Ukraine.

I stopped off in a Place called Springe Deister, saw a book store and strolled over to take a look.

Right in the middle of the window, on a pedestal was a book by Jane Rowling.

I walked on, the owner is openly supporting a misogynist hateful shitbag..

“Bell Review Confirms Only Anti-Israel Attitudes Are Rising, Not Antisemitism”

“The pro-Palestine movement has been so successful in separating opposition to Israeli atrocities from hatred toward Jews that there has been zero increase in public hatred toward Jews throughout three years of genocide. That’s an incredibly impressive achievement in activism and education regarding a mass atrocity we’re always told is a super duper complicated issue that’s almost impossible to understand.“

this reminds me of the time when the entire company “failed” a phishing exercise because the required email security scanning tools opened all the links in the email security sent out

Not sure who needs to know this, but if you download and install the Windows version of Rufus, the free software for writing ISO images to USB/CD-ROM, your PC will end up with about 100 trojans.

Edit: Had a conversation with the maintainer(s) of Rufus, who told me the malware alerts were almost certainly from Windows Defender scanning the files in the Linux ISO I was trying to burn, and not from the program itself. I'm willing to accept that may be the case here, but I also no longer have a way to check b/c I nuked the system after all the alerts, and the bios produced a warning when the system restarted.

Farming or hunting animals for fur that is then used to adorn humans needs to end. If, as suggested, controlling avian flu in these mink leads to the death of the industry, then that can only be a good thing.

[1/2] After a long debate we finally pulled the trigger.
Earlier this morning I merged support for writing leaf components, i.e., binaries, of #systemd in Rust.

Another two million lines of slop coming.

Luckily there are alternatives to system death code.

I use S6 Rc, an init
not a buggy invasive mess.

I does its job.
Stable, Fast start and shutdown,
no dependancy hell,
easy to understand.

systemd is like the ai now powering it, a mess.
and does not take over other core functions.
