For Halloween week, today's quote is about one of the Discworld's vampires! Which book introduces Otto Chriek (sometimes Otto von Chriek), the vampire iconographer?

Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels had a female werewolf named Angua.
She appears in most of the books that feature the Ankh-Morpork City Watch.

i am once again begging every website with an account system to have a one-button account deletion process (with confirmation, obviously). it should just be a thing at the bottom of your account settings. i should not have to email you to delete my account, and i especially should not have to join your shitty fucking discord

Remember my issue with not seeing pictures? It's dns related

Update! Oh my gosh thank you for the dozen offers of help. Please do not boost this anymore, I can’t take any more kindness!

Absurd request: could I buy a physical audiobook for someone in the UK to rip for me? I'm trying to get the unabridged Stephen Briggs recording of Terry Pratchett's Monstrous Regiment in its UK edition - something that is no longer available digitally for sale except in its awful US edition that alters the meaning of the book.

It's unsurprisingly difficult to buy a physical English language UK only audiobook that's >20 years old anywhere, but this one at least pops up in the UK once in a while, but I'm yet to ever see it on German sites or in second hand shops.

Good luck with that... (from a satire site on Facebook)

News from the Lost Continent

An Aussie prisoner, serving a life sentence has lost a legal battle to overturn a prison ban on #Vegemite despite saying being denied the yeast spread violated his right to enjoy his country’s culture.

Given one of the reasons for the ban is its use to distract sniffer dogs looking for drugs, I suspect he will not even be allowed to resort to #Marmite either.

Did I read this correctly: Errol the dragon emitted flames out his backside, which enabled him to fly like a rocket ship? I’ve read a lot of stories about dragons, but that’s a new one!

A revenant is a spirit that possesses the bodies of the dead, sometimes their own, sometimes others. Originally the term was used for ghosts. Something drives them back to life, and fiction loves a good revenant story like The Crow. #SpookySunday

“The storm was really giving it everything it had. This was its big chance. It had spent years hanging around the provinces, putting in some useful work as a squall, building up experience, making contacts, occasionally leaping out on unsuspecting shepherds or blasting quite small oak trees Now an opening in the weather had given it an opportunity to strut its hour, and it was building up its role in the hope of being spotted by one of the big climates”

I’ve spent a lot of time fretting over whether I was Holmes or Watson in situations where I was actually the fishmonger in the background of a street scene where they were walking by.

Anyone thinking of a #Discworld costume for Halloween?
Or have examples of past costumes?
