I feel there's space for how Highland and Island (Orkney, Shetland) culture has been unjustly incorporated into Scotland to be its historical culture, at the expense of Lowland culture.
I do wonder if Lowland culture was more Inglis than Scottish folk would like and utilise cultures they actively suppress to differentiate themselves from the neighbouring country.
