Albertans voted to stay, but they also voted to exclude many legally-present immigrants & their children from the benefits of living in Canada.

👉 Talk about "pulling up the ladder". 😡

I'm a child of refugee immigrants, who made a life here, contributed socially, and paid a lifetime of taxes. I'm grateful to the ppl who warmly welcomed my parents.

And I am furious. I'm glad my parents aren't here to see this. 😢

In my inbox, from Sarah Polley:

"We were always going to have to fight for every single vote. So with 3 days left to go, it’s time for us to get really motivated to re-elect Olivia as mayor.

4 ways to help:

Ask friends & family to make a plan to vote: oliviachow.ca/vote

Sign up as an Election Day volunteer: volunteer.oliviachow.ca/election-day

Donate to Olivia’s Election Fund: oliviachow.ca/donate

Tell everyone you're voting for Olivia in this election (#9 on the ballot!)"

🙏

"Bill C-39, the Bulldoze Nature Bill, is going to bulldoze right through nature, Indigenous rights, and workers' rights. Add your name now to tell the federal government to stop Bill C-39!"

Hqve you signed this petition, against bill C-22's online provider surveillance, yet? It's still under debate in the Canadian senate, but time is running out.

This is the last chance. If the Senate ratifies the bill, it's in. And we'll all be under surveillance, for any reason, no warrant needed.

@ZenHeathen in university, a couple of guys ran for student council wearing gorilla suits as a lark, also won, then took it seriously & did well.

There is something about giving power to someone who doesn’t want it, but this isn’t that. :)

Fall Uphill Pathways, 2026

If this photowalk looks familiar, that's probably because Ken led the same route in October last year. Date: Saturday, November 7th. Meet for coffee & chats anytime after 9:00am at Picnic Cafe, which is in the NE corner of the Brickworks' central parking lot. [map] How to get to the Brickworks: There's a free Shuttle Bus from Broadview Subway Station Parkette that leaves at 8:45, 9:15 or 9:45am; note that it has very limited capacity.

By Kazuyuki Ohtsu (b. 1935), Autumn in Kyoto, 2025, color woodblock print, printed in an edition of 50. #arthistory #japaneseart #japaneseartwork #printmaking #woodblock

From Sakura Fine Art: “The refined woodblock print Aki-Kyoto (Autumn in Kyoto) by Kazuyuki Ohtsu captures the beauty of autumn at Kõetsu-ji
Temple. Brilliant maple leaves sweep across a woven bamboo fence, while a pale tree trunk and soft greenery bring a sense of calm to the composition. Ohtsu's careful depiction of the small plants growing along the fence and at the base of the tree rewards a closer look.

Mr. Ohtsu shared that he and his wife visited Köetsu-ji during the autumn foliage season and found the scenery breathtaking and unforgettable.”

If Canada wasn't busy trying to screw over people and pander to the anti immigrant peeps, we would be the biggest beneficiary of Trump's anti intellectual policies. So many great students trying to get here who can't get visas because Carney.

“Bradford is scared of Toronto, and he thinks you should be too.

During the three years of Ms. Chow’s mayoralty, the City of Toronto has become a significantly safer place, and is one Canada’s safest cities.”

VIZZINI: So, it is down to you, and it is down to me.

For day 24 #spacetober_challenge Dragonfly mission to #Titan, I made a mini print of Titan! This hand-carved, hand-printed #linocut is just 8” x 8” (20.3 cm x 20.3 cm) and shows Titan, based on imagery produced with infrared data from the Visual and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (VIMS) instrument on board NASA’s Cassini spacecraft. This print is a limited edition reduction print. Each colour was printed in turn, and then I would carve away more 🧵

Doing a little election fantasizing here:

in which Bad Bradford, no longer a city councillor and discouraged by his Mayoral loss, moves *out of Toronto*. 🎉

Go, Brad, go!

When I advise people to calm their mind and tame their workload by writing things down, they often become even more anxious. Write which things down? How much? How many? What's too much? What's enough?

I get it. First, breathe. Next, follow one simple rule: when in doubt, write down more instead of less. That's it.

Now just try it. I promise it'll be mostly fine.

There were 260 volunteers on the Olivia Chow election day volunteer call today.

The most effective tool to GOTV is personal conversation with voters, so that's what we're doing - door-to-door and on the phone, with folks who've already expressed support for Olivia or for candidates supporting Olivia.

This is not partisan! We're making sure folks know where to vote, how to get help in their language, and offering some rides, when needed.

Excited. 🤞🤞

The kids came home with weird makeup on and then played in the garage with friends until 11 pm. I went to go check on them to make sure Brad Bradford wasn’t out there beating them with a baseball bat.
