3/23/2026The ships entry into the 2026 Downtown St. John's Burger Battle.

I was sat down and eating within 10 minutes. Consistently fantastic service at this establishment for 3 Years running.
The bun was dense and dry but not incompetent(5/10). The burger was cooked medium well and I got notes of Halidays spice ring. The burger was topped with, spinach, arugula, tomato, candied bacon, hickory sticks and a maple sauce. It had goey stringy chewy cheese that added a wonderful texture.
Even with this burgers pain points it is an 8.5/10 in my books.
Fries were also a 10. Fresh hot and cooked to perfection.

Deconstructed, reconstructed, laminated French fries.
Burger consisted of 2 simple smashers, caramelized onions, bacon
And what I thought was beet jam? Raspberry? It is a cheese monster. Cheese almost stops your bite. Beef got a bit of a chew but was cooked well. A coarse grind.
According to the description it was cherry sauce. The fires are “crispy Tartiflette Fries”
Speakeasy decor.

Cheese was good. Burger was big and overdone/overworked for my taste. There was grilled onions and invisible onion crisps. There were a couple. On top of the cheese layer they drizzled honey on this thing. It was a nice combination. Just not a winning one in my opinion.
There was some seasoning in the meat bringing heat. I did not pick up on the honey being hot. I did not pick up on the bang bang sauce either. May have been lost in the cheese layer.
Bun was flat.
TLDR: Try this burger is you are into cheese. 7.4/10
