"Caribbean Nations Have Installed Twice as Much Solar as Official Figures Suggest"
hi, bit of an odd thing for this account
my father has vaguely come across A Guy who has a supply of decommissioned retired solar panels but nowhere to offload them
how do i get him and/or The Guy in contact with some community-scale projects that can make use of them (e.g. small-scale backyard/balcony/etc systems, not a scrapper)?
location: Silicon Valley, California, USA
🔁 appreciated
edit: you can start by DMing me on fedi, or email r@arcanenibble.com
How to write a lede: Maine is…"singularly reliant on heating oil, and the price of the product is surging because of President Trump's war with Iran, which has clogged a vital oil shipping corridor."
No "experts say," no passive voice. Facts.

I knew that the GVB uses square colour figures for its tram lines. But did you know that each bus line in #Tübingen has its own symbol? I didn't. This is intended to help people with reading difficulties. The entire list: https://www.tuebus.de/fahrgastinformationen/barrierefreier-tuebus/uebersicht-der-symbole.html
Appendix: As some pointed out, the same seems to be true of Reutlingen. They introduced it even earlier.
Thanks to all our repair volunteers and visitors yesterday for making it a great day of fixing and sharing skills together. Our next repair cafe will be on Saturday 14 November - check the website for more details and to book in your repair and we will see you there 😁

My new LinkedIn (longishread) post on the risks that a collapse of the AMOC ocean circulation (and specifically the 'Subpolar Gyre') would bring for large-scale application of electric heat pumps in NW-European homes.

PS I know (and understand) that many here hate LinkedIn. My apologies, but it's not really fit for a post or a thread here.

29. As a consequence of trade barriers, US solar module buyers are now paying more than 38 US cents per Watt, for generally worse products than free trade markets are getting for 12 US cents per Watt.

Time for 2026 updates to my annual “opinions about solar” thread, now with storage. If you like these, you might like edition 2 of my book, Solar Power Finance Without The Jargon. A 30% discount code WSQ0437 is valid on publisher website til end-November 2026.
It's the book I should have read before trying to get a job in renewable energy. Reviewers say it is “to the point, important, and taught me a lot” and “surprisingly entertaining, don’t be put off by the title”.
